Library closure Sunday 28th August

Every year we have to implement Library closures in order to carry out essential electrical maintenance on some of our University buildings. This year the work is taking place over Sundays in August.

This essential work helps to ensure the smooth running of the Library and also help us to maintain our 24/7 opening. To help minimise disruption we never close both Libraries at the same time. This year we plan to close as follows time:

Sunday 28th August

07:00 – 19:00 Headingley Library closed. Sheila Silver Library open.

On this day the following services will also be unavailable between 07:00-19:00

  • Access to P Drive (file store)

Don’t forget our Library website always gives you access to over 140,000 quality online resources!

We are very sorry for any inconvenience these closures may cause.

Temporary closures

Starting on Monday 27th July areas of the third floor of the Sheila Silver Library will be unavailable as sections of the floor are lifted whilst new cabling is installed in the ceilings on the second floor.

The main book room will be partially closed for approximately four weeks. This will mean that there will be no public access to sections of the book stock and journals. This includes:

  • Books 800 – 999
  • Law Collection (340 – 349)
  • Journal Collection – recently received journals will be held in the High Demand Area on the ground floor
  • Statistics

If you require access to any of these collections, please speak to Library staff who will be able to collect the item for you.

Leeds Beckett students and staff are also able to place a hold on book stock on this floor.  Please ask Library staff for help if you’ve not done this before or take a look at our web page and video.

The Print hub on the third floor will also be closed. Alternative printing and binding facilities can be found in the following locations:

  • Black & White, Colour printers and Binding facilities – First Floor Print area
  • Black & White printers – High Demand Area, Ground floor

A number of the Student Meeting Rooms will also be unavailable during this period. However Rooms 302,303,309 & 310 on the third floor and 106 and 108 on the first floor will remain open and bookable using the Student Meeting Room booking system.

The Silent Study Room and the Disability Resource Area will remain open as usual.

We will try to keep disruption to a minimum whilst all this work takes place and we are very sorry for any inconvenience it causes.
